Woman carrying pale pink backpack

If you’re getting ready for your next – or your first – Disney World adventure (lucky you!) you might be wondering about the best bag to take with you to the parks.

Well, wonder no more! In this comprehensive guide, we’ll explore the pros and cons of different types of bags to take with you to Disney World, so you can choose the best one for you.

It’s also worth knowing that Official Walt Disney World Resort Property Rules state that backpacks, or any other type of bag that you wish to bring into the park, must be no larger than 24″ long x 15″ wide x 18″ high.

Now let’s dive in!

The Backpack

If you’re someone who likes to pack for every eventuality at Disney World (and it’s not a bad idea given the Florida weather at times!) then a spacious backpack could be the way to go.

Look for a backpack with multiple compartments and a roomy interior so there’s plenty of space for essentials (like snacks!). I prefer something that’s lightweight, durable and water-resistant. And padded shoulder straps mean it won’t get uncomfortable to carry as the day goes on.

Here are some of my favourites:

Under Arnour Hustle Backpack is a great choice of bag for Disney World

Under Armour Hustle Backpack

This is a super lightweight backpack which is designed to be easy to carry all day – perfect for long days in the Disney World parks.

It’s made of water-resistant material to keep everything inside dry, whether you get caught in a typical Floridian downpour or get soaked on a water ride – we’re looking at you Kali River Rapids!

It also comes with padded shoulder straps, a grab handle on top, two slots for water bottles (Florida is hot, do not underestimate the importance of staying hydrated!), and two storage compartments.

At the time of publishing, this bag is £46.19 on Amazon and has a rating of 4.7 out of 5 on Amazon.

SKYSPER Foldable Backpack with Wet Pocket

Call me vain, but a backpack just doesn’t cut it for my airport look, and backpacks can take up a lot of room in your suitcase.

Not this one. It folds down to next to nothing, so it’s perfect for packing in your case.

This one has a wet pocket too, so if you get soaked while you’re out and about and want to swap out your socks for dry ones, or store a wet poncho, you can do it without getting anything else in your bag damp.

It’s another backpack that’s really lightweight, has padded shoulder straps and a large side pocket for carrying your water bottle.

At the time of publishing, this one is priced at a super reasonable £23.55 and has a rating of 4.7 out of 5 on Amazon.

This Minnie Mouse Loungefly is a great bag choice for Disney World

Minnie Mouse Loungefly

There cannot be a list of bags for Disney World without including Loungefly. You won’t get far in Disney World without spotting a Loungefly backpack (or 10!).

I love this classic Minnie design, but there are so many designs available that you’ll be spoilt for choice.

This isn’t the most spacious bag, and it’s probably not going to hold up in super wet weather, but we can forgive its downfalls for its cute design.

At the time of publishing, this bag is £80 and rated 4.8 out of 5 on Amazon.

The Crossbody bag

A crossbody bag isn’t as spacious as a backpack, but let’s bear in mind that whatever you pack, you’ve got to carry around all day… in the Florida heat.

I also like the easy, on-the-move access that a crossbody bag can bring to the party. If I try to take off my backpack and find something in it while I’m walking along I am going to fall down!

Go for one with adjustable straps so it’ll fit comfortably, and with secure closings to keep your things safe.

Here are a few I like:

KAVU Original Rope Sling Crossbody Bag

This is kind of a crossbody-backpack hybrid bag. It gives you the ease of access of a crossbody with some of the space and comfort of a backpack.

It comes in over 30 colours, from block colour to prints so there’s something here to fit everyone’s style and taste.

This one comes with plenty of storage too, with two main compartments and two external pockets.

At the time of publishing, this one is £53.92 and rated 4.8 out of 5 on Amazon.

A compact sling bag that's handy for Disney World

Y&R Direct Lightweight Sling Bag

If you’re looking for something more compact, then we like this one from Y&R Direct.

This one has a padded, adjustable strap and the bag is made from a breathable mesh that makes carrying it all day a breeze.

It’s lightweight, available in a range of colours and has a D-ring to give you easy access to keys and other lightweight objects.

At the time of publishing, this one is £29.29 and rated 4.6 out of 5 on Amazon.

Loungefly Disney Dumbo 80th Anniversary Train Car Bag

Yes, it’s another Loungefly – we couldn’t resist!

Is it waterproof? No. Does it have a comfy, padded shoulder strap? Also no. BUT… look how cute!

This bag is a must-have for Dumbo lovers – even if you’re not going to take it to the parks. This bag has a relaxed afternoon at Disney Springs written all over it.

It’s big enough to get your phone and some other essentials in and that’s all we really need!

At the time of publishing, this bag is priced at £67.43 and is rated 4.9 out of 5 on Amazon.

The BUmBag

There’s a lot to be said for the faithful bumbag (or fanny pack, depending on which side of the pond you’re from), especially where a trip to Disney World is concerned.

I like to travel light to the parks and if I’ve got a bigger bag I will fill it up with things, so a smaller bag to take to the parks at Disney World suits me better.

My personal choice is my Lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag (below), which I got for my birthday last year… from my dog, Baxter (he has excellent taste!)

Here are some bumbags I like:

This belt bag is my go-to bag for Disney World

LuluLemon Everywhere Belt Bag Large 2L

So this is my go-to Disney World bag. I have it in black, which they don’t seem to do in the UK anymore, but they do still have them in the US store.

It’s got an adjustable strap which means it fits a whole range of body shapes and sizes or be worn as a crossbody (which is how I tend to wear it).

It comfortably fits my Chilly’s 350ml water bottle, my phone (in a separate back pocket), a travel-sized sun cream, and a battery pack and charging cable.

The fabric is water-repellent – great for those Florida downpours! And it’s light and comfortable to carry around all day.

Zorfin fashion belt bag

This bag is super similar to its Lululemon counterpart – although not quite as big as 2L – but it’s about half the price (which means you can get two, that’s how that works, right?).

Again, it has an adjustable strap and can be worn crossbody or around the waist. It comes in loads of different colours making it easy to match to any outfit.

This one also has card slots built into it so you can leave your wallet or purse at home but still keep your cards safe and easy to access.

At the time of publishing, this bag is £24.32 and is rated 4.7 out of 5 on Amazon.

Afreter Fanny pack

If you’re looking for the convenience of a bum bag but still want to bring a decent amount of stuff to the parks, this is a great choice.

I love that there’s a pocket on the side for your water bottle, and several compartments to help keep all your bits organised throughout the day – and there’s definitely plenty of space for snacks, which is an important consideration when you’re walking 20k plus steps per day!

This one’s definitely the more traditional bumbag style and shape, and it is a bit bulkier compared with the other two, but what you lose in sleekness you gain in storage capacity.

At the time of publishing, this one ranges between £28 and £38 depending on which colour you choose. It’s rated 4.7 out of 5 on Amazon.
