My Top 5 Quiet Places To Hide Away at Disney World
One of my tips for enjoying Disney World while healing from pregnancy loss is to find a quiet space to take a break and clear your head.
Disney World can get busy, but it’s not impossible to hide away from the crowds. There are places in all of the parks for you to hide away, get some share and recentre yourself. In this blog, I’m sharing my top 5 quiet places at Disney World.
My Top 5 Places to hide Away at Disney World
Nomad Lounge, Animal Kingdom
Up first, and my absolute favourite spot for a break at Animal Kingdom is Nomad Lounge. Get yourself on the walk-up list (via the My Disney Experience App) and make your way over to Nomad Lounge in time for your table to be ready. Then settle yourself in for delicious light bites, cooling cocktails and the best churros at Disney World. And… it’s air-conditioned inside. Heaven.
My favourite place to sit is on the porch, though. Next to the waterways, with its flowing net curtains and greenery, you can almost forget you’re in a theme park. It’s a hidden oasis of calm and relaxation.
China Pavilion, EPCOT
EPCOT is not short of places to hide away, but I love the China Pavilion, particularly at night. The whole pavilion is lit up beautifully at night.
As you walk under the gate, there’s a path to the right almost as soon as you go in. Along that path, you’ll find a couple of benches nestled into the greenery. It’s so quiet there, especially in the evening. You’ll find yourself instantly soothed by the serenity of it all. It’s the perfect place to sit and let your cares melt away for a moment.
The Liberty Square Riverboat, Magic Kingdom
There’s something about being near or on water that really soothes me. While the boat can get busy at peak times, it does get you away from the park for around 20 minutes. It can give you a sense of distance if you’re feeling overwhelmed.
There are 4 levels, so there’s plenty of room to roam about, but there’s also (limited) seating on each of the levels if you’d rather rest your aching feet for a little while.
The chances are you won’t have a long queue to wait in before you jump on the boat either, which is always a bonus.
The Maharaja Jungle Trek, Animal Kingdom
We love walking trails and the ones at Animal Kingdom are no exception! There’s lots to see and learn about, but they’re also full of shady nooks for you to sit and relax in. My favourite is The Maharaja Jungle Trek in Asia, where you can wander around at your own pace through towering greenery (and so much shade, which is a welcome relief in the hot Florida sunshine!) while searching for tigers and exotic birds.
There are plenty of places to sit and relax as you get towards the end of the tour too, making it the perfect spot to recover if you’re feeling overwhelmed and need a moment of peace.
There are other walking trails in Animal Kingdom which will offer a similar sense of peace and tranquillity like Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail in Africa and Discovery Island Trails which is made up of pathways around the Tree of Life.
The Balcony at PizzaRizzo, Hollywood Studios
PizzaRizzo is not up there on my Disney World must-dos – in my opinion, there are far better places to eat. But the Grand Avenue area, in general, tends to be a quieter spot in Hollywood Studios. And it’s often in the shade, making it a great place to get away from it all.
The second-floor balcony at PizzaRizzo feels like you’re another step away from it all. It’s shady, it’s high up, and it’s a perfect place to stop, rehydrate and take a break – don’t forget you can grab a free cup of iced water at most quick-service dining locations at Disney World, if you can’t see any out, head over to the mobile order collection area and ask a cast member.

A quiet place that didn’t make the list
Right behind Cinderella Castle in the middle of the Magic Kingdom might not be the most obvious place to get away from it all, but there is (some mild) respite to be found there.
Stand with your back to Cinderella Castle, facing the fountain; to the left, you’ll see a couple of benches under a covered walkway. They’re not always empty, but when they are they’re a great place to get out of the hot Florida sun for a bit to people watch.
The reason these benches didn’t make the list is that they’re not far from Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, so it can become an area packed full of children. For me, watching the joy on the faces of those little princes and princesses far outweighs the pain I feel about probably never having my own little princess to spend a small fortune on in Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, but I know that won’t be the case for everyone.
